He has been in excellent form this winter and scored here in January before going close again last time out. He has plenty of staying power for this distance and looks on a fair handicap mark. Most of today’s rivals have been struggling for form and Iain Jardine’s hope can score again.
THE CRAFTYMASTER (7.00 Southwell, nb)
In the form of his life and made it five wins in a row at Lingfield last time. He never wins by that far so hasn’t rocketed up the weights and he’s the type of horse that loves a proper battle. This is his first visit to Southwell but he has been fine at the other all-weather tracks so there’s no reason why he won’t take to the place.
GEORDIES DREAM (3.50 Newcastle, treble)
He was a cracking second in what looked a stronger race than this at Carlisle last time. The winner and third from that contest have come out and won since which is always a positive sign. That last run was just his second effort after an 18-month layoff so he could well improve fitness-wise.
CHOSEN TEMPLAR (2.50 Newcastle, Lucky 15)
He found a Grade 2 a bit much at Doncaster last time after a convincing win in this class at Ayr. Trainer Lucinda Russell has been sending out plenty of winners and can add to her tally here.
