Horse racing tips: Templegate’s HUGE 16-1 NAP has been laid out for Saturday’s big race

TEMPLEGATE tackles a proper Saturday of racing as confident as can be of banging in a few winners.

Back a horse at the best price by clicking their odds below.

VINO VICTRIX (2.40 Newmarket, nap)

He can go one better than last year’s second from a 2lb lower mark. Trainer Hughie Morrison looks to have laid him out for this and he warmed up with a solid fourth at Goodwood last time.

PUROSANGUE (1.15 York, nb)

He looks ready for this trip after a good staying-on second over 5f at Ayr last time. He likes some cut in the ground and ran well on his last visit here in August.

CAROLUS MAGNUS (3.35 York, treble)

He got little luck in the Cambridgeshire last time, being blocked a couple of times before finishing strongly. The extra furlong should help here and he looks a big price under the capable Joanna Mason.

Templegate’s TV verdicts

NEWMARKET

1.25

ANCIENT WISDOM cost £2m and was third in a cracking Listed contest at Ascot when last seen.

The winner of that went on to take Group 1 honours and Charlie Appleby has won the past three runnings of this.

Arabic Legend was unlucky to finish only second after traffic problems in a Salisbury Listed race latest. There’s a lot more to come.

Chief Little Rock wasn’t beaten far in a Curragh Group 2 last time and can be expected to step forward too. This trip and some cut are ideal.

Orne didn’t have much to beat at Kempton but did it well and will show more here.

Starliner battled strongly to win a Listowel maiden but needs more in this company.

2.00

CITY OF TROY looked a supersar when winning the Group 2 Superlative Stakes on the July course here last time.

He had almost seven lengths in hand in tacky ground and should step up again on just his third run to give Aidan O’Brien his eighth win in this race.

Alyanaabi can progress after his head-bobbing Group 3 win over course and distance latest. A mile would suit better but he can fill the forecast spot.

Iberian had something up his sleeve when winning the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster. He likes some give in the ground and can run well.

Indian Run has improved with every start and enjoyed stepping up to this distance when scoring at York. He needs more for this but has an each-way shout under Danny Tudhope.

2.40

VINO VICTRIX can go one better than last year’s second from a 2lb lower mark.

Trainer Hughie Morrison looks to have laid him out for this and he warmed up with a solid fourth at Goodwood last time.

Top hurdler Pied Piper was given a quiet run at Killarney last time and has clearly been aimed at this. Ryan Moore is a good booking and his mark of 96 could be lenient.

The Shunter is another best known over timber but he’s also had a quiet spin on the Flat before heading here. He’ll enjoy the hustle and bustle of this big field.

Grand Providence is at the bottom of the weights and won the trial for this nicely last time. She’s an each-way player.

Not So Sleepy has placed in this on all three attempts and won well at Newbury last time out.

3.15

ARABIAN CROWN stormed away from his rivals to land a Salisbury Listed race by more than two lengths last time.

That was over a mile and this longer trip can only bring improvement. He’s won on good and soft ground and this is another race where Charlie Appleby boasts a good record.

Dambuster looked well above average when scoring on debut at Sandown last month. This son of Kingman was very green and is another who will benefit from this step up in distance.

Gasper De Lemos was only getting started when scoring in the mud over 7f at The Curragh. He’ll improve for this stiffer test too but has a bit to find with the tip.

Meribella had something left in the tank when scoring on the July course but this is tougher so he’ll need a fair bit more.

3.50

KNIGHT can land his first win of the season after two excellent seconds.

He hit the post in a Goodwood Group 2 before matching that form when pipped by Chindit at Sandown. This trip and ground suit and he should be good enough.

Raadobarg was a place behind the tip last time and the booking of Ryan Moore takes the eye.

Real Gain has been flying in handicaps and looked up to this standard when winning over course and distance 15 days ago. This will be the slowest ground he’s faced.

Spirit Dancer was impressive at York and can’t be ignored despite a penalty.

Highland Avenue has been running well enough in decent races without looking like winning. He will be happy back over his favourite course and distance.

Fellow Godolphin runner Dubai Future did well in Saudi and Dubai when last seen and is interesting after eight months off.

YORK

1.15

PUROSANGUE looks ready for this trip after a good staying-on second over 5f at Ayr last time.

He likes some cut in the ground and ran well on his last visit here in August.

Serried Ranks improved when winning on handicap debut over this distance at Goodwood. There was some juice in the ground and the King’s hopeful did it well.

Tropical Island landed a fair nursery over course and distance last time. He showed a high cruising speed there and deserves a crack at this higher level.

Starlore looked in need of more experience when fourth in the Solario at Sandown last month. He wasn’t beaten far and can take a step forward for Sir Michael Stoute.

Esquire scored nicely on debut at Hamilton and has more to offer too.

2.25

WOBWOBWOB took his form to a new level when winning the Ayr Silver Cup with a real burst of speed.

A 4lb rise for that looks fair and he has a handy draw.

Significantly won the Gold Cup on the same card and is a big danger. He scored despite traffic problems and is best with some cut in the ground.

Veteran Summerghand threw in a rare stinker at Ayr and is better judged on his big-field win here in August from only 2lb lower. He could easily bounce back.

Albasheer is another who ran well in Scotland and has winning form over this trip and track. Hollie Doyle will need a little luck as he likes to come late.

Pendleton had a bit in hand when scoring at Thirsk and is another to note.

3.05

ALIGN THE STARS looks the pick of those with experience after good seconds at Hamilton and Goodwood last time. This drop in trip should be fine and he likes it soft.

Colorada Dancer has run to a similar level on all three starts and wasn’t beaten far at Ayr. He can figure if building on that.

There are plenty of interesting newcomers. Assailant is well bred and Team Gosden juveniles tend to fire at this time of year.

Wonder Kid is another to keep an eye on in the betting.

3.35

CAROLUS MAGNUS got little luck in the Cambridgeshire last time, being blocked a couple of times before finishing strongly.

The extra furlong should help here and he looks a big price under the capable Joanna Mason.

La Yakel won nicely at Doncaster and looks a threat. He is best over this trip and enjoys a little give in the ground.

Certain Lad has been knocking on the door and is another with an each-way shout.

Believe In Stars has a fair mark for his handicap debut. He scored at Goodwood over this trip and has more to offer for Sir Michael Stoute.

Obelix is better than his Donny effort when he did too much early and didn’t last home.
