Horse racing tips: Templegate’s 13-2 NAP can fly home for red-hot Ralph Beckett and Rossa Ryan

TEMPLEGATE takes on Saturday’s racing confident of banging in a few winners.

Read on for our man’s tips and back a horse at the best price by clicking their odds below.

LORD PROTECTOR (3.00 Sandown, nap)

He won well here two runs ago and put in a decent effort at Goodwood last time where the ground may not have been ideal. Trainer Ralph Beckett is in flying form and he has every chance of another nice winner.

DREAM HARDER (2.05 Beverley, nb)

He will be happy stepping up in trip after finishing strongly over 1m2f at Windsor 16 days ago. He wasn’t helped by meeting some trouble in running. Ian Williams’ hope had earlier scored over further at Chester with plenty up his sleeve and still looks on a fair mark.

AABLAN (3.38 Sandown, treble)

He looked pretty classy when winning on debut at Newmarket in late July. He travelled smoothly and didn’t have to hit top gear in landing the victory. Trainer Charlie Appleby won this race last year and has every chance of following up.

Templegate’s TV verdicts

SANDOWN

1.50

TOUGH ENOUGH took a big step forward when winning over course and distance last time. He had plenty left in the tank so should be able to cope with a 4lb rise.

Amber Island toughed it out to score at Leicester when last seen 88 days ago. The booking of James Doyle takes the eye and she’ll be thereabouts again.

Alpha Capture is tumbling down the weights and it would be no shock to see him run well for in-form William Haggas.

Lyndon B didn’t get the run of the race at Newmarket last time but likes this trip and is on the shortlist in this wide-open race.

Indemnify likes it here and didn’t get much luck when fourth 13 days ago. He’s another who can figure, while Maywake has talent but would like it softer.

2.25

QUEEN FOR YOU didn’t get home over 1m2f at York last time and will be much happier tackling a mile.

Getting hampered didn’t help and she was only five lengths off the pace in the Group 1 Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

She has few miles on the clock and is capable of better.

Midnight Mile is another coming back in trip and she was a good third in the Rose Of Lancaster at Haydock latest.

She was fourth at the Breeders’ Cup the last time she tackled this distance.

Coppice battled to win the big-field Sandringham Stakes at Royal Ascot before finding Group 1 level a bit much at Newmarket. This looks more like his level.

The mercurial Potapova won this 12 months ago and has run a couple of decent races since. She wasn’t disgraced when last seen at Royal Ascot and is in the hunt.

Heredia picked up well to score at Haydock ahead of Purplepay but they both need more to figure in this company.

3.00

LORD PROTECTOR won well here two runs ago and put in a decent effort at Goodwood last time where the ground may not have been ideal.

Trainer Ralph Beckett is in flying form and he has every chance of another nice winner.

Gaassee should be on the premises after a solid run at Ascot. The Haggas runner has had a little nudge down the weights.

Eagle’s Way wasn’t happy at Goodwood latest but won four on the spin last season and is capable of bouncing back for Sir Mark Prescott.

Ryan Moore is an interesting booking on Educator for the King and this drop in distance may give him a chance.

Dual Identity goes well here and is down the weights. He’s been hit and miss this season but has place claims.

3.38

AABLAN looked pretty classy when winning on debut at Newmarket in late July. He travelled smoothly and didn’t have to hit top gear in landing the victory.

Trainer Charlie Appleby won this race last year and has every chance of following up.

Starlore is another coming here on the back of a debut success, this time in a photo over course and distance.

The son of Kingman merely idled in front and should take a big step forward for Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore.

Mortlake needed his quiet debut at Salisbury before taking giant strides when scoring by five lengths at Leicester.

Ralph Beckett’s runners are always respected when they take a quick step up in class.

Devil’s Point didn’t have a lot to beat at Ffos Las but did it nicely. He was just over a length behind Starlore on debut so has some talent.

Cerulean Bay has his sights sharply raised and will have to show more than his Ayr win latest.

BEVERLEY

2.05

DREAM HARDER will be happy stepping up in trip after finishing strongly over 1m2f at Windsor 16 days ago. He wasn’t helped by meeting some trouble in running.

Ian Williams’ hope had earlier scored over further at Chester with plenty up his sleeve and still looks on a fair mark.

Dancing In Paris keeps hitting the crossbar and was second again at Chepstow latest. He’s creeping up the weights but should be thereabouts again.

Similar comments apply to Perfect Play who ran well again at Newmarket latest. Moving up in trip should help his chances.

Aimeric didn’t stay 1m6f latest but was a good winner at Donny the last time he tackled this trip and is only 4lb higher.

Fulfilled has been going well but is up in class here so will need a bit more.

2.40

JUDICIAL is old enough to be starting High School at 11 but he loves Beverley and showed good signs when fifth in decent company at Ascot last time.

He has won four times here, including this race in 2019, and has never been out of the frame at this specialists’ track.

He can have one last hurrah in what looks a weak race for the grade.

Apollo One is interesting dropped to the minimum trip after a close second in the Stewards’ Cup on the back of filling the same spot in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot.

This is only his second career start at the distance and his class can take him close.

Silky Wilkie was beaten in the Epsom Dash in June before going close in this Listed company at York. He can bounce back from a ropey run at Goodwood latest.

Kerdos was second in a big Royal Ascot handicap over this trip and wasn’t disgraced in the King George Qatar Stakes. He goes on any ground and could nick a place.

Bond Chairman likes this distance but needs to raise his game a little.

CHESTER
1.35

BOARDMAN loves Chester and was in winning form on his last visit at May.

He is only 3lb higher in the weights and he handles a little give in the ground. He can land his fourth win around this tricky track.

Lord Bertie looks a big threat on his handicap debut for William Haggas.

He had 12 lengths in hand when scoring at Thirsk last time and he should be competive from his opening mark of 95 from the ideal stall one draw.

Percy’s Lad landed his last win in this race 12 months ago and is back on the same handicap mark.

He’s better than we saw in a big-field handicap at The Curragh last time.

Austrian Theory is another off his latest winning mark and he’s been running better than his form figures suggest.

Positive Impact likes to get on the front and has a good draw for those tactics.

3.20

MILITARY ORDER has been given a break by trainer Charlie Appleby since something went wrong in the Derby.

He was sent off second-favourite for the Classic thanks to his easy win in the Lingfield Derby Trial.

That was run on the all-weather and he may have found the ground too quick at Epsom. He should have no issue with this longer trip and comes here a fresh horse.

Lone Eagle was a good second in the Group 3 Ormonde over a furlong shorter her in May.

He has struggled a couple of times in Group 1s since then and should appreciate dropping to this grade for in-form Ralph Beckett.

Divine Jewel was more bothered about biting his rivals when beaten four lengths in France latest but went close in good company at Leopardstown and has ability if behaving herself.
