GREYVAL (2.35 Ludlow, nap)
Won a couple of novice contests last season and was thought good enough by trainer Fergal O’Brien to run in the Grade 1 four-year-old hurdle at Aintree’s Grand National meeting. She wasn’t up to that standard but was far from disgraced in finishing eighth. That saw her start this season handicapping from a mark of 121 when she made her return at Ascot last month. It was a much better run than sixth place suggests as she travelled strongly until the lack of a recent outing told in the closing stages. Paddy Brennan let her come home in her own time and she should be much fitter for the experience. The handicapper has been generous with a 2lb fall in the weights and she can show her true colours.
WHISPERING WORDS (1.35 Lingfield, nb)
She has had just four runs and got off the mark over a mile at Newmarket in August. She then handled the all-weather surface at Kempton well enough before ending the turf season with another decent effort on the Rowley Mile. She didn’t get the run of the race there and was gaining at the line. Hopefully James Doyle can keep her close to the pace as you don’t usually want to get too far behind at Lingfield.
MOLLY OLLYS WISHES (12.38 Haydock, treble)
Dan Skelton’s mare comes into her own in deep conditions and built on her modest comeback effort when going close at Wetherby 18 days ago. The yard has had its ups and downs this season but seems to have clicked into top gear. This daughter of Black Sam Bellamy can add to their winning tally.

One to watch
HONEST DESIRE (4.55 Kempton)
Was a relatively cheap purchase by Godolphin standards at £150,000 and this son of Frankel is better than we saw here last time. For some reason James Doyle had him out of the back for much too long before making his challenge when the race was over. William Buick will surely have learned from that and he has more than enough ability to win this handicap.
