Horse racing tips: Templegate loves this Amo Racing filly who looks overpriced at 14-1

TEMPLEGATE returns with his early look for the big Saturday races.

Our man goes through two contests that have caught his eye – and picked out a couple whose prices might not last much longer.

WEATHERBYS SUPER SPRINT: 3.35 Newbury, Sat

LA GUARIDA can bounce back from her Royal Ascot horrors in the Super Sprint.

Richard Hannon’s filly was never happy at the Royal meeting and got loose in the pre-parade ring before the Chesham Stakes.

She was always out the back in the big field and jockey Kevin Stott accepted their fate very early and let her coast home.

She headed to the Chesham as a leading contender after an impressive maiden victory at Goodwood where she clocked a good time.

That built on her good debut third at Newmarket where she went into plenty of notebooks.

Dropping back to the minimum trip is interesting as she showed lots of early pace on her first two runs and you would need to stay in this big field.

Coral and Ladbrokes are way overpriced at 20-1. If that’s still available as you read this, she looks a cracking each-way bet… although the horse has since shortened into a best-priced 14s, which is still OK.

HACKWOOD STAKES: 3.00 Newbury, Sat

COLD CASE can give Karl Burke another big win in a glittering season.

He saves his best for this six-furlong trip and will ideally get a little bit of juice in the ground at Newbury on Saturday.

He finished last season in brilliant form, finishing third in the Gimcrack before taking a valuable sales race at Doncaster.

He signed off with victory in the Listed Redcar Two-Year-Old Trophy.

After such a good juvenile season, you are always a bit worried a horse won’t train on but this son of Showcasing put a stop to that talk by winning the Group 3 Pavilion Stakes at Ascot before finding the ground on the sharp side when down the field in the Sandy Lane Stakes at Haydock.

There’s a difference of opinion on his price for Saturday with Coral going 14-1 which looks very tempting each-way.
