FOR some people, there’s nothing worse than sitting down for a long haul flight only to realise they’re sat next to a child.
Be it seat kicking, screaming, or just being a nuisance, children can often behave in a way that makes a flight even less enjoyable for people sitting near them.

That’s exactly what happened to a young couple on a recent flight, who had to deal with the toddler in the seat in front of them taking their stuff and tickling their legs.
In a video, filmed by passenger Celina Adornetti and shared on Instagram by the American Transport Security Administration, Celina and her partner are seen sitting on plane, while a child’s hand repeatedly pokes at their legs from the seat in front.
The pair look baffled in the footage, as the kid proceeds to tickle them and try to steal their headphones and mobile phones.
A caption reads: “POV you are sitting behind a toddler of sleeping parents on your flight.”
While a couple of people commented on the video saying they thought it was cute, the majority of viewers said they would be waking up the parents in front to make the kid stop.
One said: “There’s nothing cute about this.”
Another wrote: “Respectfully, I’m waking up those parents.”
A third added: “Someone hasn’t taught their child about personal space, boundaries and not taking other’s things without their permission.”
Others suggested that it was events like this that make them want child-free flights.
One said: “I want to create a child free airline. I just need investors.”
Others were on board, replying: “YES, PLEASE!” “yes yes yes yes yes” and “Take my money.”
This is just the latest incident that has led to passengers calling for kid-free flights, with plenty of other plane journeys disturbed in one way or another by youngsters.
That includes a flight in August in which a child wore “the most annoying outfit ever” with flashing lights that kept everyone awake.
A viral video showed the child kitted out in a glow-in-the-dark strobe outfit onboard an overnight flight.
Luckily, some airlines, like Turkish carrier Corendon, have paid attention and are planning to introduce child-free zones on their flights to try and prevent problems like this arising.
A solid partition of walls and curtains will divide them from the rest of the cabin, where children will be permitted to sit.
Atilay Uslu, Corendon founder, said the child-free zone aims to “accommodate travellers looking for extra peace during their flight.”
The adult-only zones will be added to flights between Amsterdam and the Caribbean island of Curacao next month.
Meanwhile, this is the best way to deal with screaming children on flights.
And this flight attendant revealed why they want child-free flights too.
