HOMEOWNERS have been encouraged not to miss an important step when using a Wi-Fi booster to improve their internet speeds.
Don’t just settle for the first place you place the booster, a Sky Broadband expert has urged.

Aman Bhatti, Director of Propositions at Sky Broadband, told The Sun: “To get the best signal from your wireless booster, placement is important.
“Identify where your signal could do with a little enhancement and place the wireless booster between that location and your main router.
“Once in place, quickly test to make sure this location has improved the Wi-Fi signal, making small adjustments until you get it just right.”
You risk missing out on the best connection speeds if you don’t tweak your booster’s placement to find the sweet spot.
Wi-Fi boosters or extenders essentially pick up a router’s signal and push it out even further.
They aim to eliminate any so-called internet ‘dark spots’ in the home.
Sky Broadband offers customers up to three Wi-Fi boosters (which the company calls Max Pods) for free if your connection is sluggish.
Bhatti added: “When it comes to having a strong signal in every corner of your house, with our latest Sky Broadband hub WiFi Max we offer a WiFi Guarantee of up to 25 Mb/s or your money back, including up to three free Max Pods to extend coverage.
“So if you’re in need of a boost – you could try that too!”
Other internet providers have similar guarantees.
For example, Virgin Media‘s ‘WiFi Max’ service promise promises speeds up to 30Mbps in every room.
If customers can’t achieve these speeds, they can claim up to three WiFi pods at no extra cost or even claim £100 credit back.
Under Vodafone broadband’s guarantee, they’ll also send you up to three Wi-Fi boosters if you’re struggling with signal darkspots.
Similarly, BT internet’s guarantee includes two free Wi-Fi extending disks to tackle weak connection, or £100 back.
