Home Alone actor Ken Hudson Campbell’s cancer battle

Home Alone actor Ken Hudson Campbell has been diagnosed with cancer and is facing a major 10-hour surgery and months of treatment.

Campbell, 61, who played Santa in the 1990 movie, was diagnosed with cancer on October 27, according to a crowdfunding page set up by his daughter Michaela.

“We need the world’s help to save Ken,” she said. “A tumor had elusively grown on the bottom of his mouth and it began encroaching on his teeth.”

Campbell will undergo major surgery during which a large part of his jawbone will be removed along with his lymph nodes and part of his leg bone to reconstruct a new jaw.

He will then begin radiation and following six months potentially begin chemotherapy treatment.

Michaela explains her father lost his SAG-AFTRA health insurance in January 2022 following the pandemic, thus the crowdfunding page for his treatment.

The family is trying to raise US $100,000 ($151,455), of which they have already raised US $78,653 ($119,124).

She said he’s looking at “a week in the hospital, dealing with a feeding tube, skin grafts, and a tracheotomy, and we are looking at further recovery possibilities like nursing homes.

“Even though physical therapy and speech therapy are covered, we are anticipating huge out-of-pocket costs for caregivers/skilled nursing, insurance premiums, medical equipment, transportation, dental implants, dentures and who knows what else.”

Campbell’s family will care for him “as much as we can during this long journey.”
