A HOLS jet was delayed by 25 hours — after running out of loo roll.
The plane was due to leave Manchester for Egypt at 9.55am on Thursday.
A 25-hour delay to a TUI flight was blamed partly on running out of toilet rollsAlamy
Passengers did not board until mid-afternoon with TUI blaming the weather — and the captain revealing they needed to restock toilet paper and hand towels.
Staff got supplies from another plane. But at 4.30pm the flight was cancelled due to a “minor technical issue”. It meant crew had reached their legal working hours so passengers were put up in a hotel without luggage.
The jet finally left for Sharm El-Sheikh yesterday morning.
Dawn Anderson emailed The Sun while waiting on board with son Laurie, ten, daughter Libby and Libby’s boyfriend.
Dawn, 53, said: “The captain was hugely apologetic and said the catering company who should have delivered the loo roll and hand towels had brought fruit drinks instead.
“It sounds like a joke but passengers are incredulous.”
TUI said: “We are really sorry to customers on Flight TOM718 who have unfortunately been delayed overnight.
“This is due to a combination of weather, congestion at the airport and a minor technical issue which resulted in the flight crew reaching their maximum legal working hours.”
