High street chain with over 100 sites launches closing down sale as shop ‘full of bargains’ to shut before Christmas

A POPULAR high street fashion chain has launched a huge closing down sale as it prepares to shut one of its shops for good.

USC is closing one of its branches before Christmas and it has marked down all full price items by at least 20%.

USC is to close its site in Teeside Retail Park in Stockton-on-TeesAlamy

The fashion retailer is closing its store in Teeside Retail Park in Stockton-on-Tees later this month, according to local news reports.

An exact date for the closure is yet to be confirmed.

It comes as shoppers have spotted closing down sale signage advertising that everything is 20% off.

The Sun has contacted Frasers Groups – which owns USC – for comment and we will update this story once we have heard back.

Shoppers rush to social media to comment on the closure.

One fan said: “It’s close down, maybe there will be some bargains.”

Another added: “Worth checking for bargains!”

And a third Facebook user shared the news with their friend who wrote: “No way, you will be lost.”

USC, which has 16 standalone shops and dozens of concessions in other Frasers’ owned stores, was bought by the group’s owner Mike Ashley in 2012.

The group also owns brands like Flannels, House of Fraser, Jack Wills, Evans Cycles and Game.

It sells mens, womens and children’s clothing from top brands like Ugg, Converse, DKNY and Calvin Klein.

But USC isn’t the only Frasers brand with stores marked for closure.

House of Fraser also confirmed it is pulling down the shutters on its units in Guildford and Solihull.

Shoppers were found rushing to the stores to pick up some last-minute closing-down sale deals.

Now, the retailer has announced it is closing its branch in Lakeside Shopping Centre, Grays, Essex, in January 2024.

Frasers Group has also already started opening “new concept” stores.

In September, it cut the ribbon on the latest of its new department stores combining popular brands like Sports Direct and Game in Norwich.

There are plans to open two further sites in Blackpool and Sheffield.

Retailers have been feeling the pinch since the pandemic while shoppers are cutting back on spending due to soaring inflation.

High energy costs and a shift to shopping online after the pandemic are also taking a toll and many high street shops have struggled to keep going.

Brick-and-mortar stores have also seen a lack of footfall due to consumer habits switching to online shopping.

Fashion retailer New Look, which has 400 locations nationwide, shut another one of its branches over the weekend for good.

Co-op‘s College Green store in Bristol will be closing its doors for the final time on December 9.

Jack Wills in Worcester announced it will be closing down for good this new year.

It’s not just shops either, pubs and restaurants have been affected too.

Punters have been left gutted and reminiscing over their last pint as another Wetherspoons pub closed this weekend.

Franco Manca, which has 70 branches, is to close its original site after 15 years.

Meanwhile, here is every shop closing down in December including Poundland and New Look.

Plus, nineteen bank branches are set to close their doors for the final time in December – see the full list.
