Scrambling to find a charge point in a cafe, airport or elsewhere.

The uttered phrase “sorry, my phone died” is as predictable as it is infuriating.

Blissfully, a handful of tricks and tips posted on Instagram by digital creator MILAD could help to delay that ominous and ever-shrinking battery bar.

Better still, they take less than 10 seconds.

Never charge your device overnight

It takes on average 1.5 hours to charge a phone. That’s between 5 and 7 hours (or longer, depending how long you sleep) of additional charge.

This is not only expensive, but can also damage your device’s battery and performance.

Switch off ‘Background App Refresh’

To do this, click on Settings and then Background App Refresh. Then, click off.

All the apps you use will refresh automatically regardless, so it’s pointless having this option enabled.

Disable suggestions from Apple on ‘Siri and Search’

For this step, there are four options you’ll need to disable. Firstly, click on Siri and Search, scroll down to Suggestions from Apple and untoggle all four options.

All are suspected to to drain battery life.

A final bit of untoggling…

Go to Privacy and Security, select Location Services and scroll down to System Services. From there, turn off Location-Based Alerts and Location-Based Suggestions.

A final scroll down (promise!) and under Product Improvement, switch off iPhone Analytics and Routing and Traffic.
