Father-daughter bonding! Seal had a VIP date to the Shotgun Wedding premiere — daughter Leni Klum.
The “Kiss From a Rose” crooner, 59, stepped out on the Wednesday, January 18, red carpet to celebrate the Prime Video romantic comedy with Leni, 18, by his side. The duo coordinated in black, with Seal opting for a jacket and slacks as Heidi Klum’s firstborn chose a mini dress.
The Project Runway alum, 49, welcomed Leni with ex-boyfriend Flavio Briatore after their 2004 split. Nearly one year later, Heidi moved on with the “Fly Like an Eagle” artist. The Germany native and Seal tied the knot in 2005, with the singer ultimately adopting Leni in 2009. The twosome — who also share sons Henry, 17, Johan, 16, and Lou, 13 — eventually called it quits in 2012.
“[Coparenting] can be challenging,” Seal exclusively told Us Weekly in May 2021. “It requires teamwork. If you are a team, if both parents are a team, then it’s really easy and that’s not a real challenge at all. … But you have to be a team. And if you’re not a team, then it can all fall to pieces.”
He continued at the time: “You know, you do your best while you love your children, you do your best to keep them safe. And one of two things is going to happen — either that’s going to be good enough or it isn’t. One quickly realizes about children, particularly as they grow older, is that they’re not yours. You just have the privilege of being able to be sort of [a] guiding figure in the development of their lives, but they’re not really your children. You just happened to be, you know, the fortunate caretakers.”
The Making the Cut personality — who was previously married to stylist Ric Pipino from 1997 to 2002 — later moved on with Tom Kaulitz, whom she wed in August 2019.
“I’m sure it’s not easy to step into an immediate family, having all of a sudden four kids and teenagers,” Heidi exclusively told Us in January 2022 of watching the musician, 33, become a stepfather. “They were easier when they were younger, for sure. Every age comes with its challenges.”
As Heidi and Seal’s brood continues to grow up, Leni has already shown an aptitude for modeling like her mom.
“I think it’s so wonderful how she’s not trying to be me. She’s not trying to be someone else,” the supermodel gushed to Us last year, noting her daughter is “making her own mark” on the fashion industry. “Like, she is shorter for a model, and she owns it. … She’s had a camera in her face since she was born, so she sees the camera more as her friend than her enemy. So I feel like she’s super easygoing in front of the camera and always has the best time.”
