Heidi Klum is hitting back at critics in a rare statement after an Instagram follower chastised the supermodel about the 16-year age gap between herself and husband, Tom Kaulitz.
In an impromptu Q&A session via the social media platform, Klum, 50, addressed the almost two-decade age gap between her and musician Tom Kaulitz, 33.
“Don’t you feel that you’re in the age of Tom’s mum or age really doesn’t matter?” an anonymous follower asked.

“I honestly only feel that way when people point it out to me,” Klum answered.
The supermodel and her husband have been rounding off her milestone 50th birthday celebrations with a Gatsby-inspired bash back in June and an enviable trip to Capri which Klum has diligently documented on her Instagram.
This is not the first time Klum has been pressed on the 16-year age gap between herself and her husband.

In a 2018 interview with InStyle, Klum said:
“Lately, I’m being reminded more about my age by people other than myself,” Klum, who was 45 at the time, told the publication.
“My boyfriend is many years younger than me, and lots of people are questioning that and asking about it.”

Even five years ago, Klum was insistent that the age gap between herself and Kaulitz was not something that she thought about much.
“I don’t really think about it that much otherwise,” she also added. “You have to just live a happy life without worrying too much about what people think because worrying is only going to give you more wrinkles.”
The America’s Got Talent judge and the Tokio Hotel guitarist were first linked in 2018 when they were snapped together.

A whirlwind romance promptly followed when, just eight months after first being linked, Kaulitz popped the question at the end of 2018.
The pair secretly tied the knot just seven months later before holding a more formal ceremony in Capri, Italy, in August 2019.
