Kane’s strike set a new club record for most league goals in a debut season.

He also equalled the Bundesliga record for most goals after 20 matches of a season.

The England captain has matched Gerd Muller and Robert Lewandowski’s tallies from the 1969/70 and 2020/21 seasons, respectively.

Kane, who has 27 goals across all competitions, could still set the Bundesliga record for most goals in a debut campaign.

He is now six goals short of Uwe Seeler’s record 30 goals for Hamburg in 1963/64.

His latest goal helped Bayern come from behind to keep up the pace in the Bundesliga title race.

The German champions had trailed before Aleksandar Pavlovic’s equaliser, with Kane heading the hosts in front in the 70th minute.

Kane capitalised on Gladbach’s failure to deal with a cross to head the ball into an empty net.
