In the video, Craig explained that taking some simple steps to avoid frost building up on your motor can prevent damage to key parts.
He said: “As I keep babbling on in my lovely heated jacket…winter is just around the corner.
“One of the key components of screenwash is a small amount of antifreeze.
“Keeping a nice, strong mixture of screenwash in your bottle will reduce the amount of freezing that will go on and possibly even help to defrost your windscreen if the mixture is strong enough.”
Not only is this useful for being able to see out of your windows in cold weather, but it can also help protect against a number of faults.
These include blockages in your screenwash jets or even cracked washer bottles, which hold the liquid itself.
Given that it can cost upwards of £100 to replace the bottles and jets, it’s certainly worth making sure you have a good amount of antifreeze in your fluid.
Craig urged viewers to “double-check” their screenwash levels and make sure the mixture is strong enough.
If you don’t know how to do this, instructions can be found in your owner’s manual or you can take it to your local garage.
Screenwash is available online for as little as £3.99 for a five-litre bottle, while antifreeze can be picked up at £3.27 for a lite.
Craig added that if you top it up now, it should last you “through the winter.”
It comes after drivers were informed of a 15-minute task that can save £100s on fuel.
Meanwhile, a motorist was left fuming after allegedly being charged £30 to pay with cash at a car dealership.
