Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed the real reason she ‘stepped away’ from acting in recent years.
The GOOP founder, 51, told People this week that she decided to take a break from her Hollywood acting career when she welcomed daughter Apple 19 years ago.
While she has dabbled in acting with smaller roles recently, the Golden Globe winner said she hasn’t been in an entire movie since before her daughter was born in 2004.

“When I had her, it just, everything felt redefined for me, and I thought, ‘I’m not sure that I want to do this so much as a career. I definitely don’t want to… I’m not going to go away for months on end,'” Paltrow said.
Speaking about how motherhood has helped her career, she said: ”Well, it’s kind of ironic because I really stepped away from acting when Apple was born.”
“The last time I was in every scene of a movie was when I was pregnant with her.”

Paltrow appeared in films including Shallow Hal, Duets and Shakespeare in Love before welcoming her first child with ex-husband Chris Martin.
She welcomed son Moses, 17, with Martin back in 2006.
In recent years, she has appeared in Glee, Iron Man and American Horror Stories.
But her main priority has been on her health and wellness business, Goop.
Just two weeks ago, Paltrow said that former Iron Man co-star Robert Downey Jr. is the only person who could convince her to return to acting.
Speaking with ET, Paltrow said that at the moment getting back into acting is hard because of her role as Founder and Chief Executive of wellness brand Goop.
“Well, it would be very hard for me to do any acting right at the moment, just because of my job,” she said.
“But, I guess Robert Downey Jr. could probably always get me back.”

“You know, to some degree,” she laughed.
Paltrow and Downey starred together in the Marvel universe across three Iron Man films, as well as the Avengers series and the Tom Holland-led Spiderman films.
The duo’s on-screen relationship began in the first Iron Man movie back in 2008 where Paltrow acted as Pepper Potts, Personal Secretary and later wife to Downey’s Tony Stark.
In an interview with Bustle last month, Paltrow revealed that when it comes to retirement, her plan is to ‘literally disappear from public life’.
“Now one will ever see me again,” she said.
