GREGGS has announced an exciting menu update which will please thousands of fans.

The bakery giant says it has “no plans” to raise the price of sausage rolls any time soon.

It comes as Greggs said it will be opening 150 new branches this year and is aiming to have 3,000 stores across the UK.

The pastry giant also plans to trial s and trial a 24-hour drive thru service, but has not revealed yet where they will be.

The price of a Greggs sausage roll currently sits at £1.20 for most areas around the UK.

Greggs last hiked prices at the start of the year, leaving food fans fuming.

It added 5p to the price in January just months after it pushed up the cost of a single pastry to £1.15 in October last year.

That was the third time the price of sausage rolls and their vegan counterparts were raised in 2022,

Customers were paying £1 at the start of last year before a price hike to £1.05.

Further increases saw the sausage roll hit £1.10 in May and then £1.15 in October before reaching their current price of £1.20.

This means that the price of a sausage roll has risen by 20p in around a year, because of rocketing inflation.

But how much you’re charged can still depend on where you live – for example, a sausage roll can cost as much as £1.95 in central London.

Greggs has confirmed there are “no plans” to hike the price of its much-loved pastry right now.

Roisin Currie, Greggs chief executive said: “The sausage roll is currently £1.20 and as we sit here right now we have no plans for future price rises.

“But with the caveat of the uncertainty and complexity of the market – we have to continue to constantly have that in our sights.

“We are very focused on price and value so we think very carefully before we pass on prices to customers.”

There are currently 2,328 Greggs stores open around the UK and you can find your nearest one using the store locator tool on its website.

Meanwhile Greggs has confirmed it has axed hot cross buns from its menus before Easter, much to the disappointment of many.

But don’t feel too heavy-hearted – a spokesperson has said other Easter favourites would be landing in stores in the coming weeks.
