The bakery giant is bringing back three Easter-themed items to its menu on Thursday, March 14.
Greggs’ Easter menu hits stores on Thursday, March 14
Two new lunch items will also hit shelves
But fans will be gutted to know that Greggs is not reintroducing hot cross buns for the religious occasion.
It’s the third year running that the baked goods have been missing from the sausage roll chains’ menu after they were axed back in 2022.
However, Greggs is introducing two brand new lunch items, and a host of others are making a comeback in time for Spring.
For Easter, Greggs is reintroducing three sugary treats to its menu.
These include an Easter chocolate cake bar and two returning favourites – the bunny biscuit and the Easter bun.
If you haven’t tried an Easter bun, they are made from vanilla sponge, topped with fondant and a cute sugary white Easter bunny.
They are priced at £1 (5p less than last year) and contain 210 calories.
The crunchy chocolate bunny biscuits are 328 calories and £1.15 (up 5p on last year).
The biscuits are covered in milk chocolate and hand finished with tasty icing.
If that’s not enough to satisfy your sweet tooth, you could tuck into a £1.40 (up 15p on last year) Easter chocolate cake bar.
The chocolate-flavoured sponge cake is also topped with chocolate icing and a pink Easter egg for decoration.
All of the new menu items will be available in-store and online via click and collect through the Greggs app or website.
But bear in mind you will pay a little extra for delivery so make sure you check the final price before placing an order.
Greggs is also shaking up its lunch menu later this week.
Those looking for a lighter lunch option can try the brand-new piri piri chicken pasta, tossed in a spicy mayonnaise style dressing with sweetcorn and topped with piri piri style chicken breast slices for a little kick to the palate.
The new lunch item costs £3.25 and contains 358 calories.
Also brand-new to the menu is the pesto and mozzarella pasta for a taste of the Mediterranean as the weather begins to warm up ahead of the UK’s first bank holiday weekend later this month.
This new lunch item costs £3.25 and contains 375 calories.
The following items will also be returning to the menu with new and improved recipes:
Sweet potato bhaji & rice – £3.35 (267 calories)
Smoky cajun rice with BBQ chicken & sweetcorn fritters – £3.35 (271 calories)
Feta & tomato pasta – £3.25 (363 calories)
Chicken & bacon pasta – £3.25 (380 calories)
Greggs has over 2,000 branches across the UK and has become a high street staple.
The bakery chain was founded more than 80 years ago in Newcastle.
Last August, Greggs revealed it had closed 44 shops in the first half of the year but had opened 94 branches, including three outlet stores, over the same time frame.
While the high street has generally struggled since the pandemic, with many store closures, Greggs has continued to expand rapidly.
Greggs opened several new stores last year, including a drive-through and an outlet shop.
Greggs opened a record 186 new stores in 2022, and it now operates at more than 2,300 locations.
Last week, it was announced that thousands of Greggs staff will get a bonus of more than £700 after the baker made record profits last year.
The high-flying chain will split £17.6million between 25,000 employees who have worked there for at least six months.
The baked goods behemoth has shared ten per cent of its profits with staff since the 1970s — and has seen those gains rocket by a quarter to £188.3million last year.
Sales at the value-driven outfit, which aims to increase shop numbers in the next five years from 2,473 to 3,000, jumped a fifth to £1.8billion.
