Google makes ‘really annoying’ change to YouTube – and people are threatening to QUIT the site for good

GOOGLE is testing a big change to YouTube that’s already annoying people – so much so they’re threatening to quit the site.

Users with an ad blocker installed have noticed that the site is barring them from watching videos.

Reddit / @Sazk100Users have noticed this alert when they’re using an ad blocker[/caption]

Content on the platform refuses to play unless you switch off the ad blocking software.

A screenshot shared on Reddit shows an alert popup which reads: “Ad blockers are not allowed on YouTube.”

It provides two options – allow the ads to play or subscribe to YouTube Premium to remove ads.

“Being able to enjoy content without that pesky, f**king, annoying, brain devouring sickness called ads,” one person complained.

“People will leave your Platform if you overdo it.

“There is always a company waiting to fill in the gap.”

Google has long turned a blind-eye to ad blocking while other sites have used tech to catch people out.

But it appears the firm is cracking down as the wider tech sector faces rising costs.

Many users aren’t impressed with the change, saying it wouldn’t be so bad if YouTube didn’t have so many adverts.

Some say they will stop using the site for good if the test is rolled out permanently.

“YouTube pushed many people to use ad blockers due to massively long ads that will frequently interrupt videos,” one user complained.

“I can’t use my watch later list without an ad blocker due to the types of ads.”

Another said: “If this gets implemented for real, YouTube will definitely become history.”
