Get to Know Colman Domingo’s Husband, Raúl, After Their Golden Globes Date Night

Of all the glamorous celebrity couples at the 2023 Golden Globes, we can’t stop thinking about Colman Domingo and husband Raúl Domingo. Though the “Euphoria” actor and his partner rarely make joint public appearances, they walked the red carpet together at the Jan. 10 award show clad in subtly matching outfits – Colman wore a custom tuxedo embellished with onyx and graphite stones, while Raúl coordinated in a black suit. “All black, but he’s the one who’s sparkling,” Raúl told E! News of the inspiration behind his outfit. Colman shone bright on stage during the ceremony while presenting Steven Spielberg with the best director award for his work on “The Fabelmans.”

The Globes were the first major award show Colman and Raúl have attended as a couple during their relationship, which dates back nearly 18 years. In 2005, they crossed paths outside of a California Walgreens and eyed one another without exchanging any words. “I just felt something,” Colman told GQ of the love-at-first-sight moment. They wound up reconnecting through Craigslist, of all avenues – Colman spotted a post Raúl had written about him in the site’s Missed Connections section, and a few days later, they went on their first date at a bar in San Francisco. In 2014, they tied the knot during an at-home wedding with 25 of their closest friends and family members in attendance.

The Domingos are a power couple through and through. An Emmy Award winner, Colman has appeared in a slew of popular titles throughout his 30-year career, including “Zola,” “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” “Fear the Walking Dead,” “Selma,” and “Candyman.” Raúl remains more behind the scenes as a film producer, working on “Bottomless Brunch at Colman’s” and an upcoming sci-fi thriller called “It’s What’s Inside.”

He and Colman also produced and cowrote the 2022 animated short film “New Moon,” which centers on a Black mother and son who sit under the moonlight to discuss their hopes and dreams. If the production nabs an Oscar nomination, as many critics are predicting, they would make history as the first married LGBTQ+ couple ever nominated in any category.

Ahead, catch up on the few glimpses we’ve gotten of Colman and Raúl’s romance through the years, starting with their recent Golden Globes appearance.
