As the players emerged from the tunnel for the second-half, there was a coming together between Nolan and Maupay.

The Hammers coach and former captain furiously confronted the striker and had to be held back by Bees star Mathias Jorgensen and a steward.

Neville said on commentary: “In the tunnel at half-time, Nolan is having a right go at him.

“The Brentford striker we believe was outside the referee’s room and Nolan has taken offence to it.”

Maupay, who had scored in the opening 45 minutes, was seen giggling as he was pushed away from the row by team-mate Mathias Jensen.

But it was West Ham who got the last laugh over the Frenchman as they secured all three points to leave Brentford just five points off the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, David Moyes side moved up to eighth in their push for a fourth successive European qualification.

Maupay has gained a reputation as the Premier League’s biggest wind-up merchant after several “s***house” moments this season.

Maupay also annoyed Kyle Walker for allegedly “speaking about his kids”.

Plus, he has received a booking for dissent while warming up as a sub and trashed talked Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang online.
