Furious shoppers claim ‘Christmas is ruined’ after supermarket deliveries go missing

SHOPPERS are fuming that “Christmas is ruined” as supermarket deliveries are cancelled or go missing.

Just days before December 25, angry customers on Twitter have been complaining about the problems with their festive grocery orders.

Furious shoppers have been taking to Twitter to complain about their missing or cancelled deliveries

Some have claimed that their Christmas has been “ruined”, while others says they’ve been left “high and dry” without essentials they need for the big day.

Shoppers with orders from Sainsbury’s and Asda have taken to social media to complain.

The complaints come from across the country including Hertfordshire, Scotland and Kent.

One gutted customer said after she was unable to pay for her order online so her delivery didn’t arrive: “Thank you Sainsbury’s I have no Christmas spirit left.”

While another wrote: “Asda not going to have a very merry Christmas thanks to you this year.

“My delivery was due yesterday between 7 & 8, no communication and never showed up.

“Told today after twenty minutes on hold that my driver broke down and I won’t be getting the food.”

Getting a delivery around Christmas time is always a struggle as the demand skyrockets.

And this year was no different, as hundreds of thousands queued have been booking online slots since October, in the hopes of getting their turkeys delivered to the house in time.

Unfortunately for some, their orders have been cancelled, while others have been told their Christmas Day feast will be one turkey short.

One furious Asda shopper said: “Asda just randomly cancelling my order with no explanation an hour before I’m due to collect it.

“Christmas is f***ed and they have already taken the payment and it takes 3-5 days to return!! It’s Christmas that will be a week!”

While another Sainsbury’s customer was not impressed by their turkey substitution: “Sainsbury’s had the grocery delivery booked for six weeks, did everything right and still he turkey isn’t coming.

“But at least you tried to substitute an 8kg bird for two joints totalling 2kg.

“That’ll work. May as well keep the whole lot.”

Both Asda and Sainsbury’s appear to have faced payment issues which have left customers unable to pay for their orders.

This has meant that some haven’t turned up or have been cancelled completely.

One shopper said: “You have ruined my Christmas.

“Thank you Asda because of your system error taking my payment you cancelled my order no apology and told your not the only one!”

While another Twitter user replied to a customer who was unable to get in touch with the Sainsbury’s team: “It won’t come!

“They have had a massive payment problem today and have cancelled on the deliveries! It’s an absolute joke!”

Asda says it is working to find solutions for people who are experiencing issues with their Christmas deliveries.

A spokesperson said: “We will deliver more than one million Christmas orders this week across the UK and whilst we always try to make sure every delivery is perfect, delays or missing items can occasionally affect a small number of orders.

“We are picking up with those customers who are affected to try and find a solution as soon as possible.”

The Sun has also contacted Sainsbury’s for comment regarding the issues facing shoppers.

We will update this article when we hear back.
