MAJOR high street brands and big supermarkets are closing more of their stores this week.
Wilko, Tesco and a number of other big brands are shutting stores for good.

Soaring inflation has left shoppers strapped for cash, and retailers are struggling to get customers to part with their hard-earned money.
High energy costs and a shift to online shopping are also taking a toll and many brands and many just haven’t been able to keep going.
But not every retailer is shutting stores for good – some are expanding.
Aldi is set to open 20 new stores before the end of the year as part of its target to reach 1,500 branches across the UK.
While Poundland is in the process of opening around half a dozen stores this month.
Here’s a full list of some well-known retailers that will be shutting dozens of branches this week.
Wilko
Wilko will close 52 stores next week after failing to secure a rescue deal for the whole business.
The raft of closures next week will lead to to 1,016 redundancies, while the company has also announced hundreds of further job losses affecting warehouse and service centre staff.
It comes after rival retailer B&M bought up to 51 other stores in a deal worth up to £13 million.
Administrators said that “it is possible that further store closures may regrettably be necessary”, depending on talks with remaining suitors.
The following Wilko shops will close on Tuesday, September 12:

Tesco
Tesco closed its bargain supermarket brand Jack’s last year, converting six of the 13 branches into new Tesco superstores, while the others permanently closed.
One of the stores that switched from a Jack’s to a Tesco is located in Kilner Way Retail Park in Sheffield.
But Tesco confirmed that this store will close on Friday, September 15 because of low customer demand.
All staff currently working at the store will have the option to be redeployed to another store in the area.
There are currently four large Tesco stores and nine Express stores in Sheffield.
Iceland
Iceland will be pulling the shutters down on two of its supermarkets next Saturday.
The discount chain has closed over a dozen shops this year already.
The chain’s supermarkets in the Market Shopping Centre in Crewe and its branch in Grange Road, Birkenhead will then close for the last time on Saturday, September 16.
It follows the closures of 15 Iceland supermarkets earlier this year.

It’s not all bad news though because Iceland has opened a new store in Slough and two new shops under the Food Warehouse brand in Kendal and Aberdeen in recent weeks.
Morrisons
Morrisons is going to pull the shutters down on three supermarkets this year starting from next week.
The supermarket giant will close its branche in Faversham on September 17.
It will also close its stores in Blackpool Road in Preston and Bolton Breighmet.
A spokesperson for Morrisons said: “Following a thorough review of our Faversham and Bolton Breightmetstore’s operation, unfortunately we do not believe performance is sustainable and we are therefore announcing today that we have made the difficult decision to sell the stores.”
