We take a look at some ways you can get better shut-eye

APP

A study found that Myndstream app users experience a significant decrease in their time awake at night

THE Myndstream app provides wellness music for spas and has just launched an album called Fast Asleep, which follows a 772-night study conducted in collaboration with sleep experts at SleepScore Labs.

They found participants who listened to the music experienced a 15 per cent decrease in their time awake at night, two and a half hours’ more deep sleep per month and a 23 per cent increase in feeling well-rested in the morning.

It is a beautiful mixture of relaxing instrumental music, and the experts say you should listen to it as part of your bedtime routine for up to one hour before you plan to go to sleep.

I found it’s also great for a bit of a relax on the sofa.

Myndstream is available to stream for two weeks free.

GUMMIES

You can take up to four of these vegan, sugar-free gummies a night if you need to

LOVE Hemp Sweet Dreams Gummies have been formulated to support relaxation and enrich the quality of your sleep.

These vegan, sugar-free gums combine CBD extract with a blend of herbs and minerals that are known to help with kip – valerian root, chamomile, passionflower, lavender and magnesium.

Each capsule contains 5mg CBD and a serving contains 10mg CBD.

The suggested dose range for CBD in adults is 15-30mg daily.

With some conditions, such as those involving pain or inflammation, the recommended dose is often higher, and the company behind these gummies says you can take up to four a night if you need to.

They have a great cherry flavour and did help me nod off quickly.

Price is £24.99 for 30 gummies at lovehemp.com.

PILLS

These pills can boost sleep-inducing hormone melatonin by up to 71 per cent

HAPPY Mammoth’s The Deep Sleep Mode pills can boost sleep-inducing hormone melatonin by up to 71 per cent.

They contain 11 active ingredients, including the mineral magnesium, sleep-inducing amino acids l-theanine and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), plus passion-flower, valerian, magnolia and hops flower extract.

They also have reishi mushroom, which has been used in Chinese medicine to regulate the body and calm down the mind.

But these pills are powerful. So, while the suggested dose is three a night, I suggest going slow.

I took two and had nine hours’ unbroken sleep – very unusual.

From £43.99 for 72, uk.happymammoth.com
