Destanie told a story of one of the incidents where passengers decided to swap their seats before the plane took off.

According to the flight attendant, a mother and a daughter had asked to move to an empty row ahead of their assigned seats.

Their request was refused because the flight was “completely full” but some rows had been left empty as the boarding wasn’t over yet.

Destanie explained that there was still 15 minutes left until the doors of the plane would be closing, and more people could be getting onboard.

She also added that there were a lot of tight connecting flights, which could be the reason why some passengers were running late to boarding.

When the mother-daughter duo were told to wait to see if any passengers missed their connection, they ignored the instructions and swapped their seats anyways.

The pair weren’t the only ones ditching their assigned seats in favour of empty rows.

This prompted another flight attendant to make an announcement on intercom to remind people to stay in their seats.

Destanie said: “This isn’t Southwest. You can’t just sit wherever you want.”

She added that the flyers should at least wait until the boarding is finished to avoid occupying someone else’s seat.

Her video accumulated over 300,000 views with many netizens agreeing with her take.

One person wrote: “It’s wild to not sit in your seat when you board. Like, check the seating chart while you’re waiting to board if you want to know if the seats will be free.”

Another one added: “They made that announcement on my flight the other day, and all I could think was, WHO IS JUST SITTING WHEREVER THEY WANT?!”

A third person wrote: “That’s crazy I get nervous if I’m sitting in my own seat cuz I’m worried I’m doing something wrong anyway.”

Some crew members chimed in, sharing their smart tricks and phrases to use on passengers to make them abide.

One flight attendant said: ” ‘Just let me know if this is you refusing crew instructions’ works like a charm.”

Another one wrote: “Fellow FA. I always say ‘sit in the seat on your boarding pass, if you don’t like that seat we can always see what other airlines have available’ gets em right together.”

A flight attendant of 16 years has also shared the five things you should never do as a passenger – and you’ve probably done at least one of them.

One of them starts as soon as you got in the plane, explaining one of the biggest ways to hold up a flight is to block the aisle.

Another huge mistake passengers make is when to use headphones during a flight.

She explained: “Sure, they are fantastic for entertainment when you are on the airplane — but take them out when speaking to the flight attendants.”

And finally? If you are sick during a flight, what you shouldn’t do is try and hand it to flight crew – as they don’t want the gross bag.
