MCDONALD’S fans have been left hoping a beloved breakfast item will make a comeback.

Foodies were gutted back in 2020 when Breakfast Bagels were axed from the menu.

The all-in-one English breakfast dish was a firm favourite and fans have been calling for it to make a comeback ever since.

And while some have had their prayers answered in the US, unfortunately, it’s bad news for foodies in the UK.

McDonald’s said there are no current plans for the much-loved Breakfast Bagels to rejoin the UK menu.

It comes after the fast-food giant brought back the equally popular Breakfast Wraps earlier this year.

The Sun exclusively revealed the news in January, before giving them a go ourselves.

Every time McDonald’s announces a new menu update there are hoards of comments from customers begging for specific items to return.

We’ve put together a list of five popular McDonald’s items fans are desperate to see again.

Breakfast Bagel

McDonald’s UKFast-food fans were left devastated in 2020 when Breakfast Bagels were axed[/caption]

The Breakfast Bagel in the UK was similar to the Breakfast Wrap and was made up of most of the English breakfast essentials like eggs, cheese and crispy bacon.

Maccies axed both the brekkie snacks from restaurants in March 2020.

And foodies praying for their return were left distraught in January 2022 when it was confirmed the items would not be returning for good.

Now, even despite the wrap’s return, comments on social media are flooded with fans begging for the bagel to be brought back too.

One said recently said on a post about the wrap: “Nah… Until we have the breakfast bagel back I’ll stick to Tim Hortons.”

While another wrote: “A bagel would be better.”

A third commented: “Not without the bagels it’s not. Bring them back!”

A fourth posted: “Be even better if it was the bagel you used to offer.”

Chicken Legend

McDonaldsMcDonald’s removed the popular chicken legend back in November 2020[/caption]

The Chicken Legend first came onto the UK scene in 2007 and stayed on the menu for more than a decade.

The patty was made with marinated chicken breast fillet, which is then covered in a crispy coating and sandwiched between a rye bread bun with lettuce and mayo.

McDonald’s axed the popular chicken burger back in November 2020 to make way for its Christmas menu, which included the Festive Crispy Chicken.

Fast food fans were assured that it was only a temporary move by McDonald’s but the legend has not been seen since.

And while it then introduced the new McCrispy burger, it just wasn’t enough.

Fans regularly take to social media to beg for the Legend to return.

One user on X, formerly known as Twitter, said: “Okay now bring back the Chicken Legend.”

“No Chicken Legend, No Party,” declared another.

Some X users have even started a hashtag to gather support called: #BACKTHELEGEND.

Ice cream sundaes

MacdonaldsMcDonald’s Sundae’s used to go for just 99p[/caption]

The McDonald’s Sundae’s seemed like a dessert staple on the fast food chains menu so fans were shocked when they were axed in 2018.

Two variations were on offer with this dessert customers could get a cherry or toffee sauce topping on their plain vanilla Ice cream which is the same as the ice cream you’d find in a McFlurry

When they were last sold in restaurants you could get the dessert for just 99p.

They differed from the classic Maccies McFlurrys which still remain on the menu.

McDonald’s claims the desserts “weren’t very popular” but fans on X beg to differ.

One user said: “Bringing back the worst thing…. where’s the Toffee Sundaes.”

Another said: “YES!! bring back the Sundaes.”

McRib burger

McDonaldsFans have been calling for the return of the McRib for 40 years[/caption]

Some younger McDonald’s fans may not even know what a McRib is.

The McRib is a barbecue-flavour pork sandwich topped with slivered onions and pickles.

It came to menus in the UK in 1981 but only lasted four years.

It did make a brief appearance again in 2015 but fans have demanded it return permanently for nearly 40 years.

One user recently said: “Let us be honest, compared to the McRib, nobody really wants this brought back.

“When are we getting the McRib back on these shores?”

It turns out there is a pretty good reason for the sandwich not to come back McDonald’s explains on their site.

It explains: “Many of our restaurants do not have enough grill capacity to cook pork and beef products at the same time.”

McHot Dog

McDonaldsThe Hot Dogs came to the UK in the late 1990s but skirted on and off menus for years[/caption]

Another item some people will have never heard of is the Mc Hot Dog,

Yes, many years ago McDonald’s used to make Hot dogs and fans loved them.

The hot dogs came to the UK in the late 1990s but skirted on and off menus for years.

It made a brief appearance in 2002 but fans have asked for its permanent return for decades.

One X user said: “Nah bring back the Mc Hot Dog.”

If you are desperate to get your hands on one of these you could fly to Japan where they are still sold.

What else is on the McDonald’s breakfast menu?

Fans of the fast food chain will know that it usually updates its regular menu, which is served from 11am daily, every six weeks or so.

But the breakfast menu doesn’t see much action by comparison.

Its latest addition was the wrap, which is said to only be around for a limited time – unless it’s made permanent.

The new Breakfast Wrap includes a pork sausage patty, two round free-range eggs, and a slice of bacon.

It also includes a crispy potato rosti and cheese and is served in a tortilla wrap with either tomato ketchup or brown sauce.

The returning favourite is available from £4.39 on its own, or £5.89 for a meal with a drink and a hashbrown.

But do remember that prices do vary from restaurant to restaurant so make sure you double check before you pay.

Prior to the wrap’s return, the Mighty McMuffin debuted in November 2022.

The stacked snack then made a return in March last year and has been on the menu ever since.

It comes with sausage, egg, double bacon, cheese, and ketchup or brown sauce.

McDonald’s serves breakfast every day until 11am.

It used to switch to the lunchtime menu at the earlier time of 10.30am, but bosses added an extra 30 minutes to the breakfast offering two years ago.

Restaurants that are normally open 24 hours a day start serving breakfast from 5am.

Every other restaurant kicks off the day with the breakfast menu at their normal opening times.
