FITBIT has axed one of its top features, in a bid to ‘streamline’ the app with Google.
The company, which is owned by Google, is shutting down its beloved Challenges feature.

Users would often compete with step count, distance and time challenges with other users.
But owners of any Fitbit devices will no longer be able to take part in group challenges after 27 March.
The Adventures feature and virtual rewards are also set to be scrapped in a matter of weeks.
“We’re working hard behind the scenes to enhance the Fitbit app with Google technology this year,” a statement from Fitbit said.
“As a result, we’re streamlining areas of the Fitbit app.”
The company said users could instead “create a closed group with your friends and connect with other users” and “still complete with friends on your leaderboard and earn badges for personal achievements”.
But users aren’t happy, and are threatening to cancel their subscriptions and boycott the app.
One Twitter user wrote earlier today: “Why on Earth are you getting rid of challenges?
“It’s a great way to motivate friends & family and honestly, the competitions & competitiveness is what keeps me going each day.
“Without challenges I see no reason to keep using Fitbit.”
Fitbit Support replied, saying: “Sorry to hear about this. We hear your frustrations.
“We want to assure you that we are keeping you – our customers – and your feedback top of mind as we make refinements and develop new features and experiences.”
One user has even launched a petition to stop Fitbit from removing the features, which has garnered more than 500 signatures in the last 48 hours.
A signatory, going by the name of Kelly, said: “Getting the motivation from challenges was the main reason I pay for premium and just bought two new devices.
“I feel cheated and will be cancelling my subscription if this doesn’t change for the better.”
