First responders rushed to the home of Brigitte Bardot on Wednesday after she reportedly had difficulty breathing.
The news was confirmed by Bardot’s husband, Bernard d’Ormale, who clarified what happened shortly after the incident occurred at the couple’s Saint-Tropez residence.
“It was around 9am when Brigitte had trouble breathing,” d’Ormale told the local outlet Var-Matin, adding that the ambulance service initially “got the wrong” address.

“Her breathing was stronger than usual but she did not lose consciousness. Let’s call it a moment of respiratory distraction,” d’Ormale told the local outlet.
d’Ormale then asserted that Bardot, 88, is now on the mend after the rescue intervention from paramedics and said she does not need any further medical treatment and is recovering at home without any respiratory assistance.
d’Ormale then explained that his wife had been complaining of excessive heat in the lead up to the medical emergency.

“Like all people of a certain age, she can no longer bear the heat. It happens at 88 years old”, he said.
French actress Brigitte Bardot is one of the best-known sex symbols of the ’50s and ’60s. By the 1970s, Bardot had pivoted away from her film career into animal activism – a passion that would often get the former actress into many controversies.
In 1987, Bardot auctioned off about one-fifth of her personal estate which included jewellery, art and clothes – the actress raised over $750,000 to save animals.

“I gave my beauty and my youth to men,” Bardot said at the time. “And now I am giving my wisdom and experience, the best of me, to animals.”
Later, in 2012, Bardot gave an extremely rare interview to Vogue Homme about the ways in which her celebrity status had suffocated her during the height of her career.
“No one can imagine how awful it was. A nightmare. I just couldn’t live like that anymore,” she recounted.
“I quit the films when I was 38 because I’d had it up to here, so I have no desire to go back.”
