It is hoped that the Yorkshire Swim Works will be a chemical-free swimming pool complete with a sauna and holiday lodges.
There will also be a cafe on site too, which aims to serve locally sourced ingredients.
Learning programmes will also be developed at the site with the aim to run workshops around natural pool technology, water filtration, sustainable development, and nature and wildlife.
Founder of Yorkshire Swim Works, Caroline Kindy, aims to bring a “landmark community project” to Oxenhope in Yorkshire.
She told the Guardian: “We see the Yorkshire Swim Works as much more than a safe outdoor swimming destination.
“We see it as a hub for everyone to enjoy all outdoor activities – hiking, running, cycling, and walking, with biodiversity and Stem learning opportunities.”
Earlier this month, Yorkshire Swim Works, attempted to purchase a former water treatment site at an auction, but they were unsuccessful.
In an update on their Facebook page, they wrote: “We’d love to let you all know that we’ve decided to look for a new site, so that the dream of a community-owned outdoor pool with a sauna, eco lodges, STEM learning, and community buildings can become a reality for our region.”
Yorkshire Swim Works is currently accepting suggestions on where to place the new site.
Earlier this year, another outdoor swimming pool also opened up in the UK.
Sea Lanes Brighton is a new 50m, heated, pool situated right in the middle of Brighton Beach.
Meanwhile, these are some of the best lidos in the UK.
And people can’t believe that there’s a real sandy beach in London – and you can even get there by tube.
