Fiorentina 1 West Ham 2: Bowen the hero as 90th-minute winner secures first European trophy for 58 years

JARROD BOWEN fired a brilliant 90th minute winner as West Ham ended their 43-year trophy drought with Europa Conference League glory.

Bowen lashed home after Said Behrahma’s 62nd-minute penalty opener had been quickly cancelled out by a superb strike from Fiorentina’s Giacomo Bonaventura.

It’s the Hammers’ first European trophy since 1965 – and narrowly deserved in a clash full of tension and graft rather than craft.

Benrahma brilliantly smashed West Ham’s spot-kick opener after a cagey first hour.

Bowen had chested the ball onto Cristiano Biraghi’s hand, with the ref awarding the penalty after watching replays.

But five minutes later Bonaventura grabbed a wonder leveller.

He latched on to a nod-on with superb control on his first touch and a masterful far-corner finish with his second.

The Hammers lost their rhythm after that, albeit rarely achieving fluency throughout the contest.

Extra time seemed likely – until Bowen nipped in.

West Ham boss David Moyes leapt around in wild joy as he celebrated victory after seven minutes of added time.
