Fans say Everton deserve relegation after seeing horrific £4.50 burger that’s ‘been in freezer since 1995 FA Cup final’

YOU can’t beat the humble burger at the football.

A ground patty of beef, some cheese, fried onions and sauce. Simple perfection.

Well, unless you take a trip to Goodison Park, apparently.

Fans have been left in a pickle at the state of Everton‘s bundamentally flawed match-day cheeseburger – priced at £4.50.

In fact, some followers of Footy Scran were left questioning whether the beef had been “in the freezer since the 1995 FA Cup final” as they gave the cook a good grilling.

A snap was shared to the world-famous Twitter account – which shares the best and worst of football stadium grub – shortly before their surprise 5-1 demolition of Champions League-chasing Brighton.

Fans certainly weren’t relishing the prospect of a trip to Merseyside to tuck in.

And they didn’t mince their words as they were left questioning everything – including the club’s Premier League status.

One tweeted: “They lose on and pitch and on scran. Championship worthy food for a Championship worthy Club.”

Another replied: “A relegation burger.”

A third scoffed: “Appears to be about as joyless as their season thus far.”

Some were more food-specific in their criticism, as one joked: “The cheese looks like a fruit roll up.”

Another poked fun, saying: “That’s a post-it note on top, and it should read ‘remember to add cheese, relish and pickles’”.

One claimed: “This is exactly why we deserve to go down. I’d be angry if I got handed that at a homeless shelter.”

Others got a little creative, as one suggested: “That burger looks like it’s been in the back of the freezer since the ‘95 FA Cup.”

Incredibly, a fan accused the club of committing a “hate crime” and begged for the cook to be “arrested”.

One thing is for certain: the catering team won’t be getting a patty on the back any time soon.
