The ex-Chelsea defender pounced after just 17 minutes to give his team the lead away to Salernitana.

Having gone up for a corner, he was in the right place at the right time to head home a deflected Rafael Leao pull-back from close-range.

That was the star’s third goal so far this term in the Italian top-flight and he was desperate to celebrate it.

He raced off and attempted to perform a knee slide – but he found the Stadio Arechi’s pitch not willing to participate.

Tomori got stuck on the turf as his slide turned into an embarrassing tumble forward.

Fans were quick to troll the impressive centre-half after the clip of his mishap was shared online.

And with Newcastle and other Premier League clubs being linked with a transfer swoop for the ace, some even joked that it could have cost him a return home.

“The less said about the kneeslide the better,” wrote one supporter.

Another commented: “Eddie Howes just crossed him off his transfer targets after that pathetic knee slide.”

A third said: “The goal should be chalked off for that horrific attempt at a knee slide.”

As a fourth added: “What a celebration, can tell he’s not too used to scoring goals!”

Things then went from bad to worse for Tomori and Milan.

Federico Fazio equalised for Salernitana just before half time and then the hosts turned the scoreline on its head by taking the lead on the hour mark through Antonio Candreva.

And Tomori’s evening ended when he limped off with an apparent muscle injury seconds later as he was replaced by Alessandro Florenzi.

But there was some joy for Milan right at the death as Luca Jovic equalised in the 90th minute to earn a 2-2 draw.
