Everton supporters felt that they may be given a reprieve, when a VAR check seemed to draw a line suggesting there had been an offside in the build-up.
But it was later revealed that they had been wasting time reviewing the wrong image, much to the Evertonians’ ire.
One tweeted: “So the 1st VAR check was Offside and then they realised, they were looking at a wrong frame.
“These Officials really haven’t a Clue!!!!”
While a second wrote: “WTF were they looking at ? Jesus Christ Almighty.”
A third fumed: “VAR officials tried to rule out the goal using the wrong frame.”
