Weverton, 34, replaced Liverpool stopper Alisson 10 minutes from time, with the scoring finished.

And the pair’s embrace shows how much it meant to the Palmeiras star, who has spent all his club career in his home country.

Once supporters realised the generous reason why Brazil boss Tite had given Weverton game time, the reaction was overwhelmingly positive.

One posted: “Class from Tite” and another said: “That means every player in the Brazil squad got to play some minutes at least.”
