Marcus Rashford fired the visitors ahead after just eight minutes.
But Phil Foden’s brace and a late hit from Erling Haaland secured a 3-1 win for City.
United ended up having just three shots all game, as well as just 26 per cent ball possession.
And frustrated fans felt the performance was summed up by Garnacho’s unsavoury moment.
The winger had only just come off the pitch for Omari Forson when the camera panned to him.
Garnacho sat on the bench, oblivious to the fact he was on live TV.
And the Argentina star appeared to pick his nose with a finger, before placing the same digit around his mouth.
Those watching at home were left flabbergasted.

But they were not quite lost for words.
One wrote on X: “It’s peak Man Utd at the moment.”
Another declared: “Highlight of the second half for United.”
One noted: “Needed an energy boost.”
Another added: “Lad needs a good meal.”
Speaking after his side’s defeat, United captain Bruno Fernandes said: “I think the commitment from the team was there. We had our chances.
“Sometimes we played a little too deep but you know City do that to all the teams, you have to defend your box and we did that really well in the first half. From a chance that could be ours it ended up 1-1.
“There’s always something more you can do in the game, if it is City or someone else you can always do something better. City are a team that knows how to have the ball and pin teams back.
“We knew we had to defend our goal really well and I think we did, we should have had more spells with the ball than we did in the second half.”
Manager Erik ten Hag added: “I think it was a good performance overall, we went 1-0 up and we had our moments after it to score the second one.
“We defended very well and there were two defining moments when we nearly made a breakthrough and conceded the first goal.
“Then you are disappointed, we have to accept it and still we had the opportunities to at least get one point, but the win was also possible.”
