CONOR McGREGOR dressed up as Apple founder Steve Jobs to tease an impending, major announcement.
However, the cosplay led to fans making the same, predictable joke in the comments.
Conor McGregor dressed up as Apple founder Steve Jobs to tease an impending, major announcement.
The UFC star shared a photo of his get-up to Instagram, in which he is posing pensively against a black background while wearing a black turtleneck jumper.
In the photo, he is rubbing his chin with his left hand while wearing one of his luxury watches.
The pose is a clear and obvious play on an identical, iconic photo of Steve Jobs, who died in 2011.
McGregor captioned the post by teasing what he described a mega announcement.
He said: “Channeling my inner Steve Jobs for A MEGA ANNOUNCEMENT TOMORROW! Stay tuned… @apple ”
However, while some of his followers exhibited their hype concerning the announcement in question, others used the opportunity to make variations of the same joke.
One said: “Conor MacBook”
Another said: “The “WhoTheF***IsThatGiPhone””
Someone else said: “Proper Twelve Pro”
Another said: “Future iPhone users: “Hey siri how’s the weather today?”. Siri: “Stick yo head outta the f***in window mate””
Another quipped: “The mystic mac”
It is currently a very busy time for McGregor in a variety of respects.
After almost TWO YEARS away from the octagon, the former two-weight UFC champion will finally make his return in the near future.
Michael Chandler has been announced as the man to welcome the Irish legend back to the octagon, set for September.
But McGregor, 34, appeared unfazed by “Mystic Mike’s” second-round KO prediction, as he responded with a laughing emoji on Twitter.
He has been out of action since July 2021, when he broke his leg in his trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier, 34.
And Chandler, 36, was most recently beaten in a New York thriller at Madison Square Garden by Poirier.
UFC president Dana White confirmed the pair will coach against each other on the next series of The Ultimate Fighter.
The reality show sees contenders live, train and fight together to win a UFC contract.
Season finalists then meet in a finale, while the star coaches also headline against each other.
DREAM ON
Meanwhile, the Dubliner could play a key role in saving Katie Taylor’s dream of fighting in Croke Park.
The undisputed lightweight champion will defend her belts in a highly anticipated rematch with Amanda Serrano on May 20.
Whereas their iconic original took place at Madison Square Garden, their sequel will see Taylor fight professionally in Ireland for the very first time.
However, amid a cost dispute between Croke Park and her promoter Eddie Hearn, the fight is set to take place at the 3Arena, instead of GAAHQ.
However, McGregor has stepped in to offer his financial help in getting the bout into Croker.
Matchroom boss Hearn has spoken to McGregor after the UFC brawler and Proper 12 whiskey founder offered to cover the €500,000 cost of security to hold the fight in Croker.
And Hearn could be in Ireland this week to kickstart negotiations.
He said: “It’s smart marketing for Proper 12. But also obviously he’s a passionate Irishman who loves Katie Taylor and wants to see her accomplish her dream. Which is, one, to fight in Ireland, and two, to potentially do it at Croke Park.
“We talked and he wanted the background — why were the costs so high, what could we do about it and was there an opportunity for Proper 12 as well.
“I think Conor’s main priority is to see history made in Ireland.
“We’re going to speak again this week and I may well fly to Ireland this week for a few meetings.”
