F1 legend Emerson Fittipaldi’s Italian villa ransacked as thieves rob £200,000 worth of Rolex watches and jewellery

A LUXURIOUS villa belonging to Formula 1 star Emerson Fittipaldi was ransacked by thieves who stole Rolex watches worth £200,000.

Brazilian-born Fittipaldi, 76, has been living in the villa in Italy’s exclusive Lake Garda but was not at home when his home was raided.

Brazilian-born Fittipaldi, 76, who won both the Formula One World Championship and the Indianapolis 500 twice in the 1970s, has been living in the posh villa for some time but he was not at home when the burglars raided it on 13th July.

The thieves reportedly targeted loot worth £217,000, including the racing legend’s collection of Rolex watches, gold jewellery and clothes.

The Italian Carabinieri are investigating the robbery. No arrests had been announced at the time of writing.

Born in Brazil, Fittipaldi raced in the Italian Grand Prix and ran for the Italian Senate in 2022 as a member of the Brothers of Italy party.
He won two Formula 1 World Championship titles, in 1972 with Lotus and in 1974 with McLaren.

His two grandsons, the Brazilian-Americans Enzo Fittipaldi, 21, and Pietro Fittipaldi, 27, are both racing drivers.

Lake Garda has attracted scores of stars and celebrities over the years, including Tom Cruise, Drew Barrymore, Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk, and David and Victoria Beckham.

Known for its lakeside promenade and its mediaeval castles, it is Italy’s largest and most visited lake.
