James sat down exclusively with Sun Motors to share some of his top tips and tricks for drivers as Spring arrives and the weather brightens up.
He said: “It’s very nice that Spring is here, I feel we’ve been a bit hard done by especially after Christmas.
“But spring cleaning shouldn’t just be for your house – you should also spring clean your car.
“For most people, it’s probably the second most expensive thing you’re likely to own.
“It’s worthy of a spring clean.”
He went on to inform drivers about the best time to break out the bucket and sponge and get their motors gleaming.
James added: “Thoroughly clean your car inside and out while the weather’s good.
“Get out there and enjoy the weather.
“If you do happen to get a nice sunny day, why not get out there and give your car a good cleanup – get rid of the winter grime?
“Lots of people think ‘Why would I clean my car in the winter when it’ll just get dirty again down the road?’.
“So the next clean it might get would be in the Spring.
“Give it a good clean…take pride in your car.”
Giving your car a good going over can help all sorts of issues, according to James.
The buildup of dirt and debris can cause headlight dimming, block important filters and even corrosion of the bodywork from road salt.
A failure to clean your car can even lead you to miss scratches and chips to the paintwork which open the door for a real car-killer: rust.
You could end up having to drop hundreds on repairs for corroded or rusted bodywork unnecessarily, James added.
