WETHERSPOONS is known for its cheap pints and pub grub, but there are even more ways to save at the boozer.
Most high streets in the UK are home to a branch of Wetherspoons.
You can save cash by visiting Wetherspoons on certain days of the year
The chain has more than 800 pubs across the country and employs more than 42,000 people.
But despite this, lots of fans still don’t know that Spoons holds events throughout the year when they can grab their favourite drinks and meals for less.
Wetherspoons often publicises these events on their website, so be sure to check there incase one is coming near you soon.
You may also find leaflets with deals and events in your local boozer.
Prices do vary across all pubs, so it’s best to check at the bar when you order at your local pub before you pay.
It comes as drinkers were warned that the price of a pint of beer could soon soar to almost £7.
Below, we explain the exact dates you should visit your local Spoons to make the most of these cheap deals.
Real Ale Festival – Spring
Wetherspoons holds a 12-day Real Ale Festival every Spring across all of its pubs.
It usually begins on the final week of March and ends at the beginning of April.
Pints were available from just £2.15 and the average pint across all pubs was less than £3.
This year, punters got to enjoy a tantalising selection of 30 ales, including new, seasonal and speciality brews.
A date for next year’s festival is yet to be confirmed but be sure to check The Sun nearer the time to find out.
Tax Equality Day
Every year, Spoons holds its Tax Equality Day to highlight the benefits of a permanently reduced tax bill for the pub industry.
It usually takes place in September, and this year it will fall on Thursday, September 14.
Customers will be able to enjoy a 7.5% discount at its 827 pubs.
Pubs and restaurants pay 20% VAT, but Spoons founder and chairman Tim Martin says the law is “unfair” to the hospitality sector.
A large breakfast at Wetherspoon can cost up to £7.21 depending on where you live, but the discount means this would be £6.67, saving you 54p.
The price of beer varies across the country, but a point of Leffee Blonde can cost up to £6.85 in London.
This will be reduced to £6.16 on September 14.
Real Ale Festival – Autumn
As well as its Spring beer festival, the boozer also hosts a 12-day real ale festival in autumn.
This year, the festival will run from Wednesday, October 11 to Friday to Sunday October 22.
It will feature up to 30 ales, with five international brewers and 25 ales new to Wetherspoon.
The Sun has asked the chain how much the average pint will cost, as well as the price of the cheapest pint at the festival.
Last year, pints were available from just £1.99.
More ways to save at Wetherspoons
Wetherspoons is known for its meal deal offers that run all week long.
These include Tuesday’s Steak Club, the Thursday Curry Club and Fish Friday.
For example, a standard curry club meal with an alcoholic drink is between £8.55 and £9.19.
Outside of the deal, you would expect to pay around a fiver more for the same meal.
You can enjoy bottomless brews all day in participating Wetherspoons pubs by buying one hot drink.
The offer includes Tetley tea and a range of Lavazza coffee including a flat white, latte, cappuccino, and Americano.
Prices start from just 99p but they can vary depending on your location.
The chain’s traditional full English breakfast is popular with punters up and down the country.
For roughly £5.50, depending on which branch you visit, you get a fried egg, bacon, sausage, baked beans, two hash browns and slice of toast with butter.
But you can get the same breakfast for just £2.99 as part of Wetherspoons’ Top Plates, Low Rates promotion.
For example, a small traditional breakfast costs £1.99 instead of £4.95 as part of this deal.
The deal doesn’t currently have an end date, but be sure to check before you order because prices could vary slightly depending on location.
If you’re hoping to get in on the deal, you might be disappointed to learn it’s not available at all Wetherspoons pubs.
We have put together a full list of participating Wetherspoons so you can check if your local offer’s the deal.
