RING is already useful when you’re away from the house but what if you can’t even answer the door virtually?

Maybe you’re in the middle of an important work meeting or a doctor’s appointment.

Fortunately, Ring has a little-known feature that allows owners to automatically answer your door for you.

There are preset messages to choose that record visitors like an answering machine.

It’s known as Quick Replies.

All you need to do is go into the Ring Android or iOS app to activate it.

Once set up, whenever someone presses your doorbell they’ll be greet with the preset message you chose.

Your gadget can tell callers to wait while you get to the door, leave a package outside – and even tell them to simply buzz off.

Once they’ve listened, the visitor has the option to leave a message that you can listen to through the Ring app.

How to set up Quick Replies on Ring

To try out the tool for yourself, open the app and tap the three lines on the top left of your display.

Tap Devices and select the doorbell that you want to set up.

Tap the Smart Responses tile and then toggle the Quick Replies switch so it’s in the blue “on” position.

Tap Quick Reply Message and select a message. You’ll hear a recording of what the message sounds like.

You have the option to pick a year-round message or seasonal greeting that’s relevant to the time of year, such as Christmas.

You can also pick a delay time, so the message plays either right away or up to 20 seconds after the doorbell has been rung.

Tap Save to complete the setup.

Ring says on its website: “Quick Replies messages show up on your timeline as individual events. There’s no subscription required for Quick Replies.

“However, only Ring Protect subscribers will be able to listen to recordings of Quick Replies interactions in their Event History.”

Quick replies is available with select Ring video doorbells. Here’s the full list of compatible devices:
