‘Errors tour’: Taylor Swift forced to flee stage after set malfunction

When Taylor Swift sang “I’m so sick of running as fast as I can”, it’s unlikely she was singing about having to flee the stage after a set malfunction.

However, that’s exactly what happened during her concert at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati on Friday during her Eras tour.

The 33-year-old singer was nearing the end of a performance when she got in position and stomped her foot, waiting for an automatic trap door to lower her from the stage.

When she realised the door wasn’t opening, and that she may not make it in time for her outfit change, Swift was forced to run off stage, striding past many of her performers and dancers.

After rushing away from the trap door without looking back, it immediately opened.

Footage of the hilarious moment has since caught the attention of fans across the globe, who didn’t hesitate to make light of the incident.

But the first to jump on the joke was the star herself.

Swift took to the comments section of a video of the escapade, which added the song Run by AWOLNATION to the footage.

“Still swift af boi,” the Love Story singer wrote.

Another TikTok video of the moment – which you can watch above – was flooded with comments from amused fans.

“The way it opened the SECOND she stepped off,” one fan wrote.

“I love the errors tour,” another joked.

“imagine being the people under the stage waiting to help her quick change and the platform comes down and she’s just vanished,” another fan wrote.

“i love how she first goes for a strut and then realized she has to full blown sprint,” another added.

According to fans in the comment, the set malfunction was not the only mishap of the evening.

“i thought it was because the screen glitched and it changed to the speak now transition too soon,” one person commented.

The original poster responded: “oh that’s a good point, we were talking about how there were a lot of tech issues tonight w sound and screen.”

The news comes less than a week after millions of Aussies flooded Ticketek to secure their own tickets to the singer’s history-making Eras Tour.

The fans battling for one of the roughly 634,000 tickets available included New Zealanders who, aside from fighting for a seat, also had to grapple with the inflated prices of flights and accommodation across seven shows.
