British Vogue editor Edward Enninful is going out with a bang.
The influential editor’s final magazine cover, the March 2024 edition, was revealed on Thursday (early Friday AEDT) and epic is an understatement – with 40 top talents from fashion to Tinseltown squeezed into the one shot.
Enninful gathered his muses for the history-making “Legendary” edition, celebrating his six and a half years at the helm. It features the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Jane Fonda, Selma Blair, Salma Hayek, Miley Cyrus and Dua Lipa.

“To get one of these women on a cover takes months. To get 40? Unheard of,” Cyrus remarked in an on-set video.
“Only @edward_enninful could get 40 powerful women to all fly to NYC and pose for his last issue of @britishvogue,” Winfrey wrote when sharing the cover on social media.
Blair revealed in her social media post that she “didn’t want the day to ever end”.
The shoot also included Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne, Iman, Karlie Kloss and the original ’90s supermodels – Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington and Cindy Crawford – along with the younger generation, as Kaia Gerber and Lila Moss shared the frame alongside their famous model mums.

“My standout memory from shooting this cover today is carpooling with my mum to work because that is not something I get to do every day,” Gerber said in a YouTube video from the set, of working with Crawford.

Evangelista said of the shoot in the same clip: “I’ve met so many people today on my bucket list”.
Hayek revealed in the video that she stayed at “good friend” Evangelista’s house the night before the shoot, which took place in December in Manhattan.
Hayek also posted about the experience on Instagram.
“So honoured to be part of this legendary cover of British Vogue and Edward Enninful’s muses, especially because they are my muses too!” she said.

Things may have gotten a touch awkward on set though with Bradley Cooper‘s ex partner Irina Shayk and new girlfriend Gigi Hadid both involved in the shoot.
“Everyone made sure things ran smoothly so Gigi Hadid could make it home on time to her toddler,” Enninful noted in his recount of the day.
Love Island host Maya Jama and Lipa both fangirled over meeting Winfrey on set, while for a number of others Fonda was the highlight.
“Women understand the importance and power of the collective,” Fonda said of the shoot.

Photographer Steven Meise, Enninful’s long-time collaborator, was behind the lens, with actress Anya Taylor-Joy revealing Crawford had to point out to her where exactly to look.
The Queen’s Gambit star also revealed another tid-bit from behind the scenes.
“Steven’s choice of song, listening to What’s New Pussycat? with that collection of women over and over again was something that will be seared in my mind forever,” she said.
“We got the shot so quickly, honestly, I wish is was a bit longer, we were all having such wonderful discussions.”
One notable absence from the issue is Meghan Markle, who had guest edited the September Edition of British Vogue alongside Enninful in 2019.
This is despite many of the Duchess of Sussex’s close friends being involved, including Serena Williams, Victoria Beckham and Jameela Jamil.
“The end of an era,” Beckham wrote while sharing the cover on social media.
“What an incredible honour to be included in @Edward_Enninful’s final @BritishVogue cover alongside some of the most amazing women. I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.”
Some other big names who have previously appeared on Enninful’s covers were also missing from the line-up, including Beyoncé, Rihanna and Adele.
The new issue comes out on February 13.
