England star England star at centre of last-minute January transfer with Prem rivals keen

CRYSTAL PALACE keeper Sam Johnstone could be tempted by an eleventh-hour £15million switch to Nottingham Forest to strengthen his Euro 2024 claims.

Sky Sports claim Forest have re-opened talks with their Premier League rivals the four-cap Englishman ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Johnstone, 30, is struggling to oust ex-Manchester United stopper Dean Henderson as the Eagles’ No1.

And although it’s understood he is still happy at Selhurst Park, he wants more regular football to maintain his place in the Three Lions’ squad.

Henderson displaced Johnstone after the former West Brom stopper got injured last month.

Both keepers are fit now – but the 26-year-old has kept the shirt for the last six Premier League games.

Palace are keen to keep Johnstone, whose contract runs until 2027.

But Sky Sports suggest an offer of £12m-£15m could prove enticing.

However, Forest’s spending ability is limited due to the club’s Profitability & Sustainability issues.

And a big-money move for Johnstone might be out of the question unless they offload £20million-rated midfielder Orel Mangala, a reported target for Napoli.

Wolves were also said to be monitoring Johnstone in December.

That’s partly because they feared losing their Portugal keeper Jose Sa.

But instead the ex-Porto and Olympiacos man, 31, remains a fixture at Molineux.
