Emma Raducanu’s time as British No1 is OVER after nearly two years as injured ace tumbles out of top 100 in the world

EMMA RADUCANU’s status as British No.1 is over – after she was replaced by Katie Boulter.

Since winning the US Open in September 2021, Raducanu had been the leading home-grown player on the WTA rankings.

PAKatie Boulter has now become Great Britian’s No. 1[/caption]

But from a career-high of 10 last July, she has since tumbled to 128th in the world due to poor form and injury setbacks.

The Kent ace – who is holidaying in France with friends – has not played since a first-round shocker in Stuttgart in April.

She is not playing at present, recovering from THREE operations that took place last month.

Boulter, 26, on the back of her semi-final run at Surbiton, was upgraded to 126th in the world on Monday following the climax of the French Open.

Though Raducanu, 20, has protected ranking for entry into tournaments when she returns to fitness, her position on the WTA list will continue to drop due to inactivity.

Disappointingly, given all the money at the disposal of the LTA, NO British woman has qualified directly by ranking for the main draw of Wimbledon.

They will either rely on the charity of wildcards or go through qualifying at Roehampton later this month.

Earlier this month, Raducanu split with coach Sebastian Sachs after just five-and-a-half months together.

Raducanu’s team say it was a mutual decision and they leave on good terms given the situation though the search for a new member of her backroom staff has not yet started.

Raducanu said: “I have really enjoyed Seb’s coaching and working with him.

“It’s unfortunate that circumstances made it unfeasible for both of us to continue right now and we have decided to part ways.

“I wish Seb all the best moving forwards.”
