WHEELER Dealers host Mike Brewer has revealed his picks for the most underrated cars.
Speaking exclusively to Sun Motors, Mike and co-host Marc Priestley explained how you can pick up a cheap hatchback that “drives like a sports car“.

Mike explained: “There are some brands out there like Kia or Skoda.
“They’re really good cars.
“Some of the smaller Volkswagens like the UP! are good.
“They get overlooked because they’re so small.
“But inside they’re big, they’ve got air con, electric windows [and] they drive like a little GTI or a little sports car.”
This gives Brits the chance to get hold of a motor with high-end performance and some mod cons at a bargain price.
For example, the UP! clocks in at just £14,000 brand new and can be found second-hand online for as little as £2,000.
Former F1 mechanic Marc also chipped in with his underappreciated models, citing a fan-favourite Ford.
He added: “The Ford Focus was a good example.
“It was underrated in that it was just a typical family car.
“But actually now that we’ve had the benefit of a bit of time…it was really revolutionary in terms of how its technology shaped the market.
“We can look back with a little bit of hindsight and say probably that car was a bit underrated.”
Sadly Ford is set to discontinue the Focus in 2025 as it shifts to an all-EV lineup.
However, both of the presenters agreed that the ‘underrated car’ itself is a bit of a dying breed.
Thanks to ever-greater market research from manufacturers who can trim the fat from their lineups year-on-year every car now serves at least some portion of a brand’s customer base, according to Mike.
He added: “I buy and sell cars for a living.
“Nothing seems to be underrated these days.
“Every car seems to have a use and a purpose.
“Manufacturers don’t make underrated cars, they make rated cars.”
It comes after the duo revealed that the next series of Wheeler Dealers has been left hanging in the balance as they wait for channel execs to renew the popular show.
