DRIVERS have been warned that a major mistake with a useful safety feature could see them fined £1,000.
Expert mechanic Craig, from Walsall Wood Tyre & Service in Walsall, West Midlands, explained how to avoid the expensive blunder in a TikTok video.

He revealed that portable sat navs and mobile phone holders, while vital for making sure you aren’t using your phone behind the wheel, can still actually land you in trouble with the law.
In the clip, he said: “Sat navs, mobile phone holders, where do you put them?
“Well I can tell you where you don’t put them – right in the middle of the windscreen where I see so many people with them.
“They are ideal for keeping you safe and keeping you legal.
“Unfortunately a lot of people are putting them in such silly places on the windscreen that they are physically restricting view.”
Craig added that this can lead to an advisory note on your MOT – but that’s the least of your problems.
Driving with your view obstructed is actually an offence as you could be deemed not to be “fully in control” of your motor, as required by the Highway Code at all times.
This could even see you prosecuted along the same lines as if you had been using a phone and, if the obstruction is found to be the cause of a crash, you could find yourself in the dock.
The crime carries a maximum penalty of a £1,000 fine (£2,500 for HGV drivers) and six points on your licence.
Even if you aren’t dragged to court, you could still be slapped with an on-the-spot £200 fine and three points.
It comes after a motoring expert revealed how drivers could be fined £2,500 for simply standing next to their vehicle this Christmas.
Meanwhile, some of the Hells Angel’s most bizarre rules were explained – including why you can never quit.
