Drivers ‘never knew’ what mystery letter button does… and now they do it’s the ‘ONLY feature they ever use’

DRIVERS have finally found out what a mystery letter button does in their car, and is now the only feature they ever use.

A mum shared what buttons remained untouched in her Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy, and users flooded her TikTok post saying what they use them for.

“Have you ever wondered what these buttons do? Me too. But I haven’t used them yet,” the parent, who goes by Real Mom Car Tours, posted.

She revealed she never changed the brightness in her car, neither the towing button nor the traction control feature.

The mum admitted she may have used the electronic parking brake one time.

However, she did not use the “mystery” function symbolised with an  “A” surrounded by a circular arrow.

The button she referred to is the automatic start-stop – a system hat shuts down the engine when the vehicle is stationary.

One user, who owns a Kia Telkluride, wrote under the mum’s TikTok post: “I hate that auto start stop button.

“That is the only button I use.”

Another follower commented: “The button with an A stops your car from turning off when stopping at a light, or stop sign!

“In fact saves gas [petrol] when off!”

It comes after experts at the RAC have revealed a hidden function that can do away with an irritating issue.

Many drivers are likely familiar with the problem of their car alarm going off unnecessarily.

Certainly, it seems almost all parents know the pain of leaving a child or a pet in the back while nipping into the supermarket, only to be called back moments later when their movements trigger the wailing siren.

Thankfully, the RAC have explained how to solve this using either a little-known dashboard button or a key fob hack.

A spokesperson for the club said: “There are few things more annoying than a car alarm that keeps going off, especially if it happens randomly in the middle of the night.

“If your car key has a built-in remote, you may be able to turn off the alarm by unlocking the driver’s side door with the key instead of using the remote.

“This can help reset the alarm settings if there is a fault.

“Some cars also have a button on the dashboard with the word ‘off’ on it, which allows you to deactivate the alarm system.”

This button can be picked out by its symbol, the outline of a car with three lines inside and the word off or a light next to it.

If you are unable to deactivate the system and it keeps going off unprompted, you should take it to a trusted local garage to be repaired.

However, the experts warned that, if there is no fault with the alarm, it should always draw you back to your motor.

They added: “A car alarm that goes off should never be ignored.

“At best, the alarm may be caused by a fault or an open window; however, in a worst-case scenario, a car alarm going off may be warning you that someone is trying to steal your vehicle.”
