Drivers left fuming after leaflets are plastered to their car windscreens – causing a major problem

DRIVERS have been left fuming after leaflets were plastered to their windscreens, causing a major issue.

Motorists in Maidstone, Kent, found the adverts for a local car wash stuck fast to their cars but removing them was far from easy.

The fliers were so firmly held on that many car owners couldn’t remove them at all, while even those who could were left with marks on their windshields.

Dino Antonio and his team from Wash & Shiny car wash left almost 500 leaflets around the town, but were left red-faced after a flood of complaints.

Dino, 40, has since had half a dozen people turn up at his business to demand the ads be removed.

Richard Cooper, one of the drivers affected, told The Mirror: “Like most people, I was fuming. I had to go out of my way which delayed me getting to work to get the issue sorted.

“I did try encouraging all those affected to go to the car wash to get it cleaned.

“However, the owner of the car wash wasn’t up for taking responsibility. Only when I stood my ground with him to get it done it was still not perfect.”

He added that the PR stunt had “backfired” and that the car wash had “no right” to put the fliers on other people’s cars.

Fellow local Beth Harrington said: “I haven’t been down there yet but I am going to and they can wash my car.

“It’s either the best marketing ploy I’ve ever seen or they are just mindless idiots.”

For their part, Dino and the team have apologised and claimed that they have gone back to the area they leafleted to offer to clean up the mess.

Dino said: “We are really sorry for what’s happened. We were just trying to advertise our business.

“We put them on cars at night and the bad weather must have made it wet then sticky when it dried.

“If you get it wet again it should come off, but we are happy to remove it for people if they come down or text us their address.

“We’ve had some come in already to get it taken off, or just get their car cleaned as they get £5 off with the leaflet, which is a good deal.”

He added that the business has done a similar leafleting drive before and “never, ever had a problem”.
