Drivers just realising 62p household item can de-ice frozen windscreens quickly… save money & time on winter mornings

DRIVERS are only just finding out that a common household item can help them de-ice a frozen windscreen – saving time on frosty mornings.

Temperatures across the UK are set to plunge over the coming weeks, which means Brits face waking up to frosty motors.

Thankfully a new tip from LeaseCar.uk could seriously help speed up the de-icing process on winter mornings.

According to the motoring expert’s blog post, a mixture of rubbing alcohol mixed with washing-up liquid can help thin out a thick layer of ice.

All you need to do is spray this solution onto the ice and wipe over with a cheap microfibre cloth.

Most households will already have a bottle of washing-up liquid under their sink – and it can be bought for as little as 62p at Sainsbury’s.

Rubbing alcohol itself can be found for £2 at most UK supermarkets, according to a previous story.

Car users were recently blown away by another cool ice-beating tip – and this costs just 12p.

The cost-effective trick involves applying an onion to your car’s windscreen before heading to bed – with coating supposedly perfect at preventing ice from sticking to the screen.

Brits have recently been urged to brace for ice and snow – with the Met Office issuing weather warnings for the coming days.

So with this in mind, it might be worth popping into your kitchen or to your local supermarket for some money-saving supplies.

This comes after one motorist was mind-blown after discovering a secret flap on their car which doubles up as an ice scraper.

The woman, who often takes to TikTok to share tips and tricks, questioned: “Why has nobody told me this before?”

Elsewhere, a hidden button could save your life if your car’s brakes fail – as an expert points out the feature to fellow motorists.
