The video’s title reads: “Works really well.”

While the caption reads: “Have an icy windshield?”

The TikTok user starts the video using a credit card to scrape ice from her windscreen.

She says: “Don’t use a credit card. Pour the alcohol on a rag. Watch how the ice melts away!”

The video has had more than 30,000 views and nearly 2,000 comments.

However, users believe that there are better ways of defrosting your windscreen.

One said: “Heat up the car and it will melt off.”

The user who uploaded the video replied: “Sometimes, I’m running late to work and don’t have time.”

Another person said: “Hot water in a bag works well too.”

And the user answered: “It can cause cracks.”

A third pointed out: “We just use de-icer spray, it works better.”

Rule 229 of the Highway Code states: “Drivers must be able to see, so clear all snow and ice from all your windows.

“Make sure that your mirrors are clear and the windows are demisted thoroughly.”

If drivers fail to demist their windscreen, they can be fined up to £1,000 and get three points on their licence.
